Awana History
Awanasleep & Swim
The idea for Awanahouse has been born in 2002. Jan van Delft and Moy
Inpan wanted to build a guesthouse. But for all with a swimming
pool.
After a construction time of one year, the guesthouse was ready. In
January 2004 they officially opened the guesthouse, in those days
called Awanasleep & Swim. Jan and Moy gave their guesthouse a very
personal note.
Tours
They started to organize private tours, mostly through the northern
of Thailand. Jan knew how to give it all a special touch. The
enthusiastic reactions worldwide and the connections Jan maintained
with his guests, underline their esteem.
Website
A website had been made to inform the visitors about
the guesthouse. Later on it became possible to make an online
reservation. Yet you can find descriptions of the tours Jan drew up.
After more tours were organized and the traditional Thai massage was
introduced, the name Awanasleep & Swim did not fully cover the
meaning anymore. There for the name of the website changed in
www.awanahouse.com
Lonely
Planet
Within two years Awanasleep & Swim was mentioned in Lonely Planet,
the famous tour guide. In 2006 the guesthouse was recommended in the
national newspaper ‘Volkskrant’ from the Netherlands. But for all
the verbal advertizing soon made it clear, the guesthouse was a
pleasantly house which they appreciated.
Awanahouse
The name Awanasleep & Swim
suggested mainly an accommodation with a swimming pool. However,
after more tours were organized and the traditional Thai massage was
introduced we decided to change the name in Awanahouse. Our tours
and Thai massages are also available for people who are no guests
from Awanahouse.
Jan van Delft
Jan van Delft deceased the 18th
of june 2007. His very wish was that the guesthouse would stay in
hands of his family. He is the founder and put Awanahouse on the
map.
Now there are people who carry
on his life work with an élan that Jan surly would appreciate.
People who are enthusiastic and ready to welcome our guests. The
team, under the direction of Ron Bertsch, will take care that
Awanahouse remains on the map.
Restyle
Later on this and that changed. In the meantime the
guesthouse had a facelift. All rooms got Thai styled
